Consistently focusing on the negative side of an issue can greatly contribute to stress and can lead to physical changes in the body and affect performance and overall wellbeing.
This session will help you understand the ways in which this seemingly automatic negative thinking occurs, recognize its typical manifestations, and develop a process for tackling negative thoughts effectively.
The facilitator of the session will be provided by UBC's Employee and Family Assistance Program provider, Shepell. This free workshop is available to all UBC staff and faculty.
By the end of the session, you will be able to:
Define and understand the term stress whirlpool;
Understand how negative thoughts work and impact the body; and
Develop a strategy for combating negative thoughts and increase your positive outlook.
