Physical Activity: Its Role in Chronic Disease Prevention and Management - HP033

We are all aware that physical activity is good for our bodies but how can this activity help prevent or improve chronic disease?

This presentation will address major chronic diseases (cancer, cardiovascular disease and diabetes) and highlight the links between the disease and physical activity (PA).

A brief background will be given for each chronic condition with an examination of how physical activity can be used to improve health outcomes.

The intention of this lecture is to provide information about avoidable chronic disease and the steps one can take to reduce risks (from both a preventive and treatment standpoint).

The lecture will consider the benefits of both strength and aerobic training and will give tips and resources to effect change towards healthier active living.
