Achieving Happiness - HP091

Happiness is a topic of interest to many and most people have an opinion about what factors bring greater happiness. In this talk, join Kostadin Kushlev, PhD student and Vanier Scholar at the Department of Psychology, and explore the empirical evidence indicating which of our intuitions are right and which not so much.

Examine the factors that are associated with greater psychological well-being, broadly defined.

Kostadin will cover various ways of assessing well-being from self-reported happiness and life satisfaction to peoples sense of purpose and meaning in life. He also will explore a wide range of factors that contribute to happiness, from the obvious, such as having good relationships and good health, to the less obvious, such as the benefits of pro-social behavior and a focused mind.
