Suicide Awareness Day Volunteer Training - Jan 15th - HP124

The Suicide Awareness Day volunteers will support this years campaign, on January 29th 2014, either by hosting an outreach/awareness booth or by volunteering as a member of our street teams. In both cases, volunteers will share information that increases awareness about warning signs as well as resources available to all campus members.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Booth Host - Participate in Suicide Awareness Day volunteer training session. Meet at designated location 10 minutes before scheduled shift time. Engage audience in the information displayed at the booth. Hand out giveaways (Suicide Awareness Day pens and resource cards).

Member of Street Team - Participate in Suicide Awareness Day volunteer training session. Meet at the Suicide Awareness Day headquarters (Center for Student Involvement & Careers) 10 minutes before scheduled shift time. Travel along designated campus route handing out giveaways (Suicide Awareness Day pens and resource cards) and answering questions.

REQUIREMENTS An interest in promoting suicide awareness to campus community members. Strong communication skills. Ability to work independently as well as part of a diverse team. Prompt, reliable and responsible with ability to exercise sound judgment. QPR Gatekeeper certification is an asset.

TIME COMMITMENT Half an hour for volunteer training session 1-2 hours on Suicide Awareness Day
