Positive Space Workshop - HP207

The Positive Space Campaign is a campus wide awareness and visibility initiative to make UBC more welcoming to Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Two-Spirit, Trans and Queer students, staff, faculty, alumni and allies in all our working, learning and living environments.

It aims to foster a welcoming atmosphere and inclusive, respectful dialogue on campus for people of all sexual orientations and gender identities by identifying spaces where sexual and gender diversity is supported and valued. Workshops are offered through the Equity and Inclusion Office at UBC Okanagan and Equity and Inclusion Office at UBC Vancouver.

This workshop will take place at Robson Square and is condensed to two hours to accommodate staff schedules.

The facilitator of this workshop will review issues and resources related to lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, transsexual, gender variant, queer, questioning, two-spirit and intersex (LGBTTQIA+) students, staff and faculty.

Once they successfully complete the workshop, participants may choose to volunteer as Resource Persons. A Positive Space poster or button is given to all Resource Persons to indicate that they provide a welcoming space to be open about issues of sexual orientation and gender identity without fear of homophobia, transphobia or reprisal. Of course, people who are interested in attending the workshop without becoming a Resource Person are also most welcome.
